The dangers of using open Wi-Fi networks: Michael Ball, virtual CISO

The drive to stay connected to the office often has us using whatever open Wi-Fi networks we can find, but doing so could put our data at risk. Security expert Michael Ball considered setting up a ‘whitehat’ hack at the CanadianCIO Summit to show how easy it is to fall victim to a man-in-the-middle attack. He thought better of it, but still has tips on how to avoid turning that working session at a coffee shop into a costly data breach fiasco.
