Every technology conference has its call to action, and the JavaOne Developer Conference did not fall short as vendors rallied around the concept of building a new class of Java applications that can be delivered wirelessly to cell phones and handheld computing devices.
This year, it looks like there will be a little high-speed wireless reality to go along with the hype. U.S. providers are finally beginning to roll out high-bandwidth wireless services, including e-mail with attachments, instant messaging and always-on data connections.
