Hewlett-Packard Co. this week announced more than 40 IT management products and services in an effort to further its autonomic computing initiative, including new software that provides systems management capabilities across its Windows, Linux and Unix server lines.

IBM Corp. announced several products at its DeveloperWorks Live event in New Orleans in April, specifically unveiling the combination of IBM's Tivoli platform and autonomic computing for self-managing systems as part of its On Demand computing strategy.
