Veeam, a backup and disaster recovery software company, has released Veeam Backup & Replication v12, a new version of its software. It is dubbed Backup & Replication v12 with 500-plus. It now includes direct-to-object-storage backup, improved immutability, cyber resiliency, hybrid cloud protection, and a new ransomware warranty with a SWAT recovery team.
The most recent version includes several new features, including the ability to directly restore virtual machines to a VMware vSphere Hypervisor. It also meets three critical business requirements: data security, data recovery, and data freedom to backup and use data from anywhere without platform or cloud lock-in. There are three enterprise editions available: Foundation, Advanced, and Premium. All editions contain Veeam’s award winning VBR and Instant Recovery; Advanced and Premium editions also deliver advanced resiliency features including monitoring, analytics and recovery.
It also includes improved backup capabilities for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure cloud environments. The software can now protect data across multi-cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and Azure, as well as several other data storage platforms.
Ransomware protection features in Veeam Backup & Replication v12 allow users to recover data encrypted by ransomware attacks. The software is available as a free trial or as a subscription service.
The new Veeam Ransomware Warranty, which supplements the Veeam Data Platform, ensures Veeam customers that in the event of a ransomware attack, Veeam will cover the cost of data recovery up to $5 million. The Veeam Ransomware Warranty includes a 30-minute support SLA, a dedicated support account manager, quarterly health checks for best-practice operations, and optional design and installation services through a Veeam Accredited Service Provider for eligible users[2]. Furthermore, in the event of an attack, Veeam will deploy the Veeam Ransomware SWAT team — a dedicated team of security support experts trained in ransomware recovery — to help fight for your business.
