Threads gets one-fifth of twitter’s weekly active user base

According to data.ai, Instagram Threads, Meta’s new app, has topped 100 million users in its first few days, achieving one-fifth of Twitter’s weekly active user base globally.

Twitter has 396.5 million global users, 450 million monthly active users, and 206 million daily active users, says data from Social Shepherd data. As a result, Threads’ monthly active user base is expected to reach approximately 90 million or more every month, and 41,200,000 per day.

According to data.ai, Threads has been downloaded over 150 million times since its launch on July 5, and has 93 million active users worldwide. Despite a 20 per cent decline in daily active users and a 50 per cent decrease in time spent on the app, from 20 minutes to 10 minutes, Threads still outnumbers Truth Social, the largest Twitter rival in the United States, with 86 times more weekly active users.

Threads garnered 93 million active users globally during its half launch week, according to data.ai, even before formally announcing its 100 million signups milestone on July 10. Threads is especially popular in India, where it accounts for 33 per cent of worldwide downloads, according to the report. Brazil comes in second with 22 per cent of downloads, followed by the US with 16 per cent.

data.ai underlines that Threads’ momentum remains strong, claiming that it has already gathered over 150 million downloads, attaining this milestone at a speedy pace—5.5 times faster than Niantic’s Pokémon Go’s record-breaking debut in July 2016.
