SpaceX’s Starlink terminals help Ukraine restore internet after power cuts

According to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, SpaceX’s Starlink services have helped restore energy and communications infrastructure in critical areas.

The restoration of internet facilities came after a power outage that disrupted critical communication channels for both Ukrainian civilians and military personnel following a series of Russian attacks.

Although despite the attacks, Ukrainian troops relied on portable devices from Elon Musk’s SpaceX to communicate on the battlefield when internet access was not available.

It should not be forgotten that when Ukraine’s internet was disrupted in Ukraine back in February, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said Starlink satellite broadband service will contribute its own quota to the country by sending more terminals to Ukraine to support communications.

“Over 100 cruise missiles attacked Ukraine’s energy and communications infrastructure. But with Starlink we quickly restored the connection in critical areas,” Fedorov tweeted.

The Ukrainian government also praised Musk for allowing his Starlink satellites to broadcast after Russia invaded Ukraine in February.

According to a person responsible for dozens of Starlink devices along the frontlines, those that went down in some newly liberated areas last Friday were back online by Sunday morning.
