SAP alters data warehousing with Business Warehouse 7.4

Organization with huge data warehouse typically move large sets of information during off-peak periods.

German enterprise software maker SAP AG intends to change this practice with its Business Warehouse 7.4 which currently being merged with the company’s HANA in-memory database platform.

One company considering whether or not to use Business Warehouse 7.4 is Molson Coors, the beer company created with the merger of Canada’s Molson and the United States’ Coors breweries.

Molson Coors is currently using version 7.3 of Business Warehouse and it also took part in a version 7.4 pilot project.

SAP says Business Warehouse will enable enterprise firms to access any source inside or outside the company as it is needed.

Data will not be physically moved into Business Warehouse. Instead, data can viewed as virtual tables at any given time.

The service provides greater access to data sets and gives operators the ability to frequently access information sets in the core data warehouse.

Real-time data access will also help users of the service generate better business intelligence (BI) reports as they will always have access to the latest data, according to Neil Govern, senior director of product innovation marketing at SAP.
