Musk to strip news links of headlines on X

Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), has announced that the social media platform will soon remove headlines from news links shared on the site. The change, which is said to help reduce the vertical pixel space that articles take, is also reportedly intended to cut down on clickbait.

“This is coming from me directly,” Musk wrote in a repost from his official account. “Will greatly improve the esthetics.”

The change will only affect links to news articles, and the images will still be displayed. Users will still be able to click on the link to read the full article.

The move received mixed reactions from journalists and publishers. Some have argued that it will make it more difficult for people to find and read news, while others have said that it could help to reduce the spread of misinformation.

In addition to removing headlines from news links, Musk has also encouraged journalists to publish their articles directly on X. He has said that he wants to create a platform where journalists can have more freedom to write and earn a higher income.

It is not yet clear when the change will take effect.
