Microsoft and Meta have collaborated to integrate Microsoft’s operating system and productivity tools into Meta’s virtual reality hardware.
The two internet giants promised that Windows 365 will be available on Meta-Quest devices in the future, allowing you to stream a Windows Cloud PC with your customized apps, content and settings.
Zuckerberg unveiled Meta’s latest virtual reality headset, the Quest Pro, a device powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon, and Microsoft immediately announced it would support it with its Windows 365 platform.
According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the Quest Pro is significant because avatars that reflect your face make VR more suitable for collaboration in the real world. “The feeling of presence you get from VR, even today, can be better than video chat,” he added.
Neither Zuckerberg nor Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella explained how Windows or Office 365 could be used in a headset. However, Zuckerberg explained, “With Microsoft 365, you will be able to interact with content from your favorite productivity apps.” While Nadella enthused: “With Windows 365, you will have a chance to securely stream the Windows experience to the VR device with the full power of Windows and Windows applications.”
