According to Downdetector, complaints about Instagram’s outage began on Monday around 1:57 PM EST, with plummeting records. The app appears to be operational again after about 45 minutes of inactivity.
At its peak, around 2:08 p.m. ET on Monday, more than 1,500 incidents were reported. That number has now dropped to 45 as of 2:49 PM. Some outages may have only affected a subset of Instagram users.
Some of the outage effects include slowness, inability to log in, and major errors. In other words, you were unable to access your own profile, refresh your Instagram feed, or create posts. This outage comes just six days after a previous outage on December 6 that lasted 45 minutes.
There has been no official word from Meta and Instagram about the outages, but it is back up and running. Despite the fact that it has been restored, users are dissatisfied with its absence.
