Huawei launches HANA hardware

Telecommunications equipment maker, Huawei Technologies Co., is beefing up its enterprise presence with the launch of its FusionCube hardware aimed at companies seeking run their own HANA (High-Performance Analytic Appliance) installations.

FusionCube, which was introduced today at the Cebit trade show in Germany, has four Intel Xeon E7-4870 processors running at 2.4 GHz and 512GB of RAM. Customers have the option of adding additional SSD storage. Up to 16 nodes can be used in one system.

FusionCube runs on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11 for SAP. The operating system provides a simplified and automated process that requires less SAP and Linux skill sets and reduces installation errors.

HANA is a platform developed by SAP that store information to be processed in-memory rather than moving data in and off of disks in order to speed up performance.

The introduction of the product at Cebit is the second year the mobile device company announced new HANA hardware at the event. In 2013, the company announced that SAP AG had certified a Huawei server for use as a single node appliance.

Working with SAP is an integral part of Huawei’s enterprise strategy of offering products to large companies that want to run their own HANA-based high performance analytics appliances.

Huawei said it is also working with the enterprise software maker on other products aimed at the enterprise mobility space.

The company said it intends to work with SAP in developing what it calls “mobility-in-a-box” solutions for the enterprise. The solution will be a cost effective and secure platform that can be accessed from anywhere using Huawei devices and SAP applications.
