Harness, the software delivery platform founded by AppDynamics founder and CEO Jyoti Bansal, has announced the launch of Gitness, an open-source Git repository, and the Harness Code Repository, the hosted and managed version of Gitness.
This is the first new Git repository launch in almost a decade, according to Bansal. He argues that current Git repository services have become too complicated and bloated, and that Gitness is designed to be simpler and more lightweight.
Gitness is also designed to be more integrated with Harness’ other tools, such as its CI/CD system. It also includes some AI-powered features, such as enhanced search and AI-infused tooling for code reviews.
In addition to Gitness, Harness is also launching an internal developer platform based on Spotify’s Backstage open source framework for building developer portals, and a supply chain assurance module.
Harness is also launching a new Infrastructure as Code Management (IaCM) service. This service is designed to help companies manage their infrastructure as code in a more efficient and secure way. It includes features such as drift detection, security enforcement, and compliance enforcement.
