If so, you should know it’s critical that your migration team is up to speed on the new features of Windows Server 2012, in order to get the most out of the new operating system.
It’s crucial that team members know what the OS can and cannot do, according to Orin Thomas, a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT).
It is also possible that members of your team have different ways of learning, he said.
In a recent blog on WindowsITPro, Thomas outlined some resources that provide the ins and outs of Windows Server 2012 R2:
Instructor-led training using Microsoft Official Curriculum – Three to five-day long classed designed by Microsoft and thought by independent certified trainers. Suitable for people that need to be away from the office to learn. There are a number of Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 courses available.
Self-paced training using training guides from the Microsoft Press – These a job-related lab manuals. Suitable for learners who are self-motivated and learn by performing hands-on tasks. Learners need to find their own time and equipment to do the exercises.
Microsoft exams – Exam ref books and third-party exam practice materials. Exams and test are based on the assumption that learners have hands-on experience with the products being dealt with. Thomas advices, it is generally best to learn about the product first before taking the exam.
