Tony Blevins, Apple’s vice president of procurement, responsible for striking deals with suppliers and partners, is leaving the company, the company confirmed without elaborating.
He is expected to leave after a TikTok video of him making a crude remark about women went viral.
In the video, Blevins was quoted as saying, “I have rich cars, play golf and fondle big-breasted women, but I take weekends and major holidays off,” in response to a question from TikTok content creator Daniel Mac about his profession at a car show in a video series in which Mac asks owners of expensive cars about their profession.
Blevins previously worked on the company’s satellite agreement with Globalstar, negotiated wireless modem deals with Qualcomm and Intel, and was responsible for reducing the cost of many of the key parts that flow into Apple’s mobile devices.
He released a statement after the incident saying, “I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my mistaken attempt at humor.”
According to Bloomberg, it was Apple’s chief operating officer Jeff Williams’ decision to part ways with Blevins, and Williams will oversee Blevins’ old team for the time being.
