Why System Integrators Cannot Impartially Evaluate Software

As large System Integrators continue to partner with all sizes of enterprise software vendors it seems a disturbing trend is developing.  Organizations look to System Integrators as the subject matter experts often within an industry, vertical and local area, which in most cases is usually true.

The illusion of a software provider or a systems integrator (SI) to give impartial advice is not in the organization’s best interest.  Their interest is to implement software and make money on the professional services of the implementation.  Therefore, it stands to reason that anyone reselling software mainly the large SI’s such as Accenture, Deloitte, CGI, Wipro, Tata Consulting, KPMG, IBM etc. all resell many types of software between them so how can they offer their clients an impartial software evaluation process ?  Chances are they will be more likely to recommend what they resell as that is where they have a vested interest.

SI’s often try to squeeze your unique business processes into which software that most closely matches what they resell.  More times than not the customer ends up with the software they resell.  how is this valuable to an organization; make your business fit the software (Having to conform to preset processes and procedures), shouldn’t it be make the software fit your business ?

Organizations have to separate the software buying decision into phases and realize that software evaluation must be separated from system integration and professional services and implementation, common mistakes as seen over the years.  The trap organizations often fall into is that the SI does the software evaluation. The process for a software evaluation should be:  software evaluation – which includes vendor demos, evaluation of the SI’s, selection and then implementation.  Our Tru-Eval system not only evaluates all types of enterprise software impartially but can also evaluate SI’s and their validity providing organizations a percentage of best fit specific to their organizational requirements ensuring a fair, impartial analysis that has the organization’s best interest at heart.  The first two phases of software evaluation and evaluation of the SI’s are part of the software evaluation process.  When the decision of the correct software matches the company’s needs is complete then the next phase of the project begins; implementation.

It is this enterprise software selection process that reduces possible IT failures by identifying red flags early on in the software buying process, reduces project length when done correctly (results in saving your company money and finding the correct software), can assist in calculation of ROI all of these aspects are intrinsically built into our Tru-Eval system. With worldwide IT failure estimated at $6.2 Trillion for 2010 shouldn’t your organization take the appropriate steps to not become another statistic ?  Our system was built specifically to reduce IT failure and to enable organizations to maximize their technology investments by having fact-based information to make the best possible decisions.
