I fall to pieces for Team Tek

Team Tek, a wholesale distributor of media storage and consumable products based in Toronto does an outstanding job in customer and partner service. One of their key events in terms of appreciation is its Team Tek Baseball gathering at the Rogers Centre sponsored by Lexmark Canada this year. It was Team Tek's sixth annual event where your humble reporter shed some blood for the community — literally.

I was taught at journalism school many, many years ago never to make yourself part of the story. But, in this case I did. I accidently fell trying to shake the hand of Ganesh Ayer of KLM Solutions. I fell holding a hot cup of coffee while I was trying to negotiate the step between two sets of seats. The coffee went everywhere. The cup broke; luckily no one else got hurt. After being totally embarrassed, getting a small cut on my hand, and hurting my knee I did get to shake hands with Ayer who is a fantastic partner in the IT community.

I also want you all to know that I was a trooper. Team Tek invites its guest to play a pick up game of baseball on the field shortly after the real game is over. I wasn't sure if I should play. First thing was my knee and the second was that I should stop making a spectacle of myself. But, I remember the words uttered by my high school football coach Bruno Galeotti: “Are you hurt or are you injured? If you're injured, you can't play. But, if you're hurt you better get in there and help your team win.” So I played and it was again a fantastic time.
