We’ve put in a lot of effort to freshen the site, which we hope makes it more readable and easier for you to find news about new IT products and solutions.
As always our staff writers interview vendors and users about technology and comb the Web for news from other sources to give readers a well-rounded view of what’s available for enterprises and how organizations are solving problems. Our regular Canadian bloggers – Sean Carruthers on Android, former Gartner research area director Bruce Stewart, IT consultant Don Sheppard and database specialist Chris Lau – are also here.
But we’re also reaching out to expand the number of bloggers through the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS), which represents IT professionals across the country looking for more bloggers to add to our roster of knowledgeable people who keep an eye on the industry.
Four have already agreed to contribute and we want to add more. The new bloggers are
–Stephen Ibaraki, on the executive board of CIPS who has won more than 50 IT-related awards and is an eight-time winner of the Microsoft most valuable professional award. His first blog appears today;
–Ken Metcalfe, director of IT and corporate privacy officer at Manitoba-based insurance company;
–Daryl Hepting, an associate computer science professor at the University of Regina. His first blog is here;
— and Ron Richard, a Newfoundland-based specialist in quality risk change management.
I expect their insights will only add to the informative debates our blogs provoke.

If you don’t know about CIPS, I’ll tell you a bit about it and why members of the association make excellent IT observers. Founded 55 years ago, CIPS sets standards in for people working in the IT industry. Through it workers can attain the I.S.P. (information systems professional) certification, showing they have met required IT education and professional experience. For employers the designation means holders are bound by a code of ethics and standard of conduct as well as IT professionals.
At the moment, the I.S.P. designation is a professional designation recognized by Alberta, B.C., Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan. Approval is being sought in other provinces.
So our blogging team is doubling. However, there’s room for more voices. Anyone with IT experience in Canada working for enterprise-sized companies who would like to regularly share their thoughts on technology in the workplace will be considered.
