In a sweeping gesture, members of the hacktivist collective Anonymous in China have defaced 485 websites, predominantly those belonging to the Chinese government.
The target is not that surprising as the Chinese government has been liberal in censoring the Internet and its people's access to it.
In the usual Anonymous fashion, the sites have been taken over and pertinent personal information leaked via Pastebin.
In a spartan explanation for these recent attacks, Anonymous posted this statement to Pastebin in both Chinese and English:
Hello, we are Anonymous.
All these years the Chinese Government has subjected their people to unfair laws and unhealthy processes.
People, each of you suffers from tyranny of that regime.
Fight for justice, fight for freedom, fight for democracy!

Also posted to Pastebin is a list of every website attacked and the 548 leaked phone numbers (believed to be of Chinese officials).
