Who to follow on Twitter for #FollowFriday

For Facebook, there’s sending friend requests, and for Google Plus, you add people to your circles. But as anyone who has a Twitter handle knows, on Twitter, we follow and we tweet at people.

Enter today’s #FollowFriday, or #FF. If you’ve been on Twitter and don’t know what this is, it’s a Friday standby where Twitter users recommend a list of accounts to others. For example, you might tweet, “#FF @itworldca @itbusinessca @compdealernews” to encourage your followers to follow these accounts, especially if you see value in their tweets.

Until the end of December, we’ll be posting an #FF every Friday to give you some ideas of who to follow in the IT community.

For this edition of #FF, here are a few Twitter handles that we think are worth a click on the “follow” button.

 

As a well-known figure in privacy and security, Deibert does much of his research on the Internet and how it affects international security and human rights. He also helped found the OpenNet Initiative and worked on Information Warfare Monitor projects for nearly a decade, with some of his most famous work being the on cyberepisonage efforts like Ghostnet.

 

 

 
AS CEO of popular accounting company FreshBooks, McDerment makes the effort to answer anyone who has customer queries via Twitter. He also tweets about entrepreneurship and startups, but he keeps his Twitter personal, sending occasional tweets about life in Toronto that show his human side.

As CMO for NetApp, Parrish tweets on the marketing, the IT channel, the cloud. She also regularly tweets about insights from different marketing conferences – and on the gap between CIOs and CMOs.
