Voltage unveils SecureFile encryption tool

Voltage Security Inc., a Palo Alto, Calif. cryptography vendor, has announced SecureFile, which the vendor says will encrypt files of any format.

Designed to be easy to use, the software includes persistent information encryption for desktop files, batch files and documents, plus files within Web collaboration portals.

The files are encrypted once they exit the portals, and the vendor offers a managed service, dubbed Voltage Security Network, which is software as a service. Voltage says SecureFile protects documents as they travel between business partners, such as sales channels, supply chains, outsourcers and contractors.

SecureFile includes a client for file encryption at the desktop, plus a version for Lotus Quickr, which encrypts the information stored in collaboration systems. SecureFile CL encrypts batch files.
