Travis Perkins division CCF has dramatically improved its building materials delivery process with a centralised management system from Jade.
CCF distributes interior building products to the construction industry, supplying ceilings, dry lining, flooring, insulation, partitioning and fire protection materials.
CCF is now using the Jade Jump tracking and delivery system. Kieran Griffin, managing director at CCF, said the new system allowed the firm to provide customers with real-time delivery details and electronic proof of delivery which is geo-tagged, date and time stamped.
The platform relies on delivery drivers carring Motorola MC75 rugged mobile computers and Intermec PB51 mobile printers.
Griffin said: “It was crucial that the solution allowed for flexible integration between CCF and the Travis Perkins Group’s existing IT infrastructure.”
Jump has replaced CCF’s previous paper-based delivery process which required drivers to work with printed manifests and obtain handwritten proof of delivery, which could not be reconciled with orders until they were returned to the branch office.
With Jump, drivers have an electronic version of the planned delivery route which is presented in order of drops. The driver selects the first job and then views the manifest to see what deliveries are to be made and if there are any special delivery instructions.
Through ALK’s integrated CoPilot navigation software the driver is directed to each delivery drop. Jump enables the driver to confirm arrival and when the unloading process has been completed.
With Jump, customers can also be given pre-delivery information, including the location of delivery drivers.
Using the PB51 the driver has the ability to print manifests to allow customers to check deliveries, if required. The MC75 can be used to electronically record any discrepancies, or to take any images of goods that have been damaged, or record where they have been unloaded.
Once the unloading process has been completed the driver obtains an electronic signature from the customer which is then transmitted to CCF’s back office systems.
Travis Perkins is now looking to roll out the CCF solution across its other companies.
