New enhanced digital signal processing (DSP) software tools to increase product robustness and speed time to market were announced this month by Texas Instruments Incorporated. The new software, Code Composer Studio(tm) 1.2, with visual linking and profile based compilation capabilities features DSP/BIOS II, an enhanced version of real-time kernel. This version of Code Composer Studio(tm) 1.2 supports TI’s two new programmable DSP cores announced in February and is aimed at developers of applications including telecommunications, networking, audio, video, imaging and wireless. The DSP/BIOS II software foundation and Code Composer Studio 1.2 IDE are key components of the real-time software technology environment, eXpressDS technology. Code Composer Studio 1.2 is now available for C5000 and C6000 DSPs. Updates are to be sent to registered users. The complete Code Composer Studio 1.2 for either DSP platform costs US$2,995 and includes DSP/BIOS II at no additional charge and with no run-time licensing fees. DSP/BIOS II supports all TMS320C5000 and TMS320C6000 DSPs that are in production, and it will be extended to new products as silicon becomes available. Compile tools for either family can be purchased separately for $1,495, debug tools for $1,995.
