Symantec Corp. this month announced that it had signed an agreement to purchase IMlogic Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
IMlogic, a private company in Waltham, Mass., sells software used to manage and secure enterprise instant messaging (IM) systems. The company is estimated to have made US$72 million in revenue in 2004.
IMlogic’s IM Manager software provides policy enforcement for regulatory compliance and centralized security controls, and it manages, secures, logs and archives all IM traffic, including messages on AOL Instant Messenger, MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ, IBM Lotus Instant Messaging, Microsoft Office Live Communications Server and Jabber systems.
Cupertino, Calif.-based Symantec and IMlogic have been partners since 2002, allowing Symantec’s software to be integrated with IMlogic’s IM Manager.
