It’s bad enough when — thanks to social media — an organization’s name can be tarred these days in an instant. Microsoft, which has been the target of unhappy users almost since it was founded, is no exception. Now it has a new attacker: The government of Germany.
According to this report from Naked Security — a blog from the Sophos anti-malware company — Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security has told the nation to drop Internet Explorer until a patch for a zero-day vulnerability is released. The vulnerability is described in this report from ComputerWorld U.S.
Microsoft released a security advisory Sept. 17 saying the vulnerability can affect IE 6-9.
In the meantime what it calls a FixIt is available now.
