SolarWinds Inc. has expanded the reach of its software suite for managing virtual environments.
Virtualization Manager now integrates with the company’s Server & Application Monitor (SAM), which it says means it can provide comprehensive monitoring and visibility for an entire virtualized stack — applications, virtual machines, hosts, clusters and datastores.
In addition, the company said in a news release, Virtualization Manager now supports virtual storage management for the latest versions of Micrsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere hypervisors.
Using the new integration with SAM users can get an integrated view of the virtualized application stack including automatic slices of the virtual infrastructure supporting a given application or from the other side, the ability to see what applications are hitting a given virtual resource, the release said. Administrators can also see what applications are dependent on a given virtual resource.
Virtualization Manager includes dashboards for detection and forecasting of performance problems, VM capacity planning and monitoring, VM sprawl identification and the ability to track and identify VM and host configurations. It also integrates with SolarWinds Storage Manager and Network Performance Manager.
