With the launch of Research in Motion Ltd.’s new Torch handset, which combines touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard, and updated Blackberry 6 operating system, industry watchers are talking about another iPhone killer. And Microsoft Corp. says its Windows Phone 7 OS will start slaying Apple Inc.’s ubiquitous smart phone this October, though no hardware’s been announced. While the jury’s still out on those two developments, Apple’s iconic handheld has stood up to more than one iPhone killer in its three-year history.
