Siemens, NexInnovations form strategic alliance

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) and IT services provider Siemens Business Services Canada Inc. and NexInnovations Inc. today announced they have entered into a strategic alliance.

Under the deal, the Toronto-based Siemens Canada will design, build and operate ERP managed applications, data centre and call centre outsourcing for NexInnovations’ customers. Toronto-based NexInnovations will in turn provide Siemens’ customers with infrastructure deployment, configuration and technical support services.

To assist customers with their deployment and host ERP systems, Siemens will integrate their services through a variety of software products from companies that include SAP AG, JD Edwards & Company, Microsoft Corp., PeopleSoft Inc. and Oracle Corp., Siemens said.

The infrastructure deployment to be provided by NexInnovations will include all desk-side support such as product procurement, configuration, deployment, on-site support and maintenance services, explained Wendy Lucas, vice-president, solutions at NexInnovations in Toronto.

The company intends to target all vertical markets in Canada including the government sector and the corporate marketplace.

The alliance with Siemens has been in the works for several months, and while NexInnovations is already engaged in outsourcing deals with both CGI Group Inc. and IBM Corp., Lucas said the company felt that with Siemens as its partner, it would be more able to provide “truly integrated services.”

The company said the services are available immediately, although to date there are no customers who have jumped on board in Canada. Nonetheless, it is confident that customers will latch on to its offerings.

“We’re trying to assist those customers that are looking at deploying or hosting ERP systems and we will identify and work with Siemens to integrate our combined offerings,” Lucas said.
