Semiconductor firm upgrades productivity strategy

Increasing productivity and shortening lead times are priorities at West Bay Semiconductor Inc., a privately owned fabless semiconductor company based in Vancouver, B.C. Since its formation in July 1999, the company has been working to develop unique, highly advanced optical networking chips with the goal to be the number one provider of optical networking semiconductors in the world. The company markets its chips worldwide to wide area network (WAN) and metropolitan area network (MAN) equipment manufacturers. As the demand for bandwidth continues to increase, network equipment manufacturers must consistently build higher performance and more cost effective systems using highly-integrated circuits such as those developed by West Bay Semiconductor.
