Keeping up with the competitive financial services market, new technology and growing customer expectations has become easier for Scotiabank’s Peggy Mulligan since she orchestrated the outsourcing of the bank’s domestic computer operations, including data centres, over 1,000 branches, more than 2,000 ABMs and desktop computer systems for some 24,000 employees. It’s been nearly a year since Scotiabank committed $900 million over seven years in an outsourcing agreement with IBM Canada’s Global Services Group, becoming the first major Canadian bank to sign such a contract.
