SAP announces opening of new Canadian HQ in Toronto

Waldorf, Germany-based SAP AG officially opened its new headquarters for SAP Canada in Toronto on Tuesday. The enterprise software firm says it spent $12.6 million to renovate its 222 Bay Street location, expanding it to 58,000 square-feet over three floors. The new space will contain both SAP Labs Canada and customer operations in a collaborative workspace. Such an arrangement of putting business functions in close proximity to development teams is a popular trend in the technology space to support agile work methods.

The new office combines two previous locations in east Toronto and north Toronto. SAP Canada currently counts 3,400 workers across the country. Its offices are located in Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary. It also has R&D labs in Vancouver, Waterloo, Ont., and Montreal. SAP says it’s committed to invest $550 million yearly into its Canadian presence. SAP wouldn’t say if it plans to hire new employees for its new headquarters location.

“Everything is in place for SAP to set the stage in defining the intelligent enterprise in Canada,” said Sam Masri, chief operating officer, SAP Canada, in a press release. “We have created a hub for the very best talent in Canada to push the boundaries of what is possible. The office will feature a state-of-the-art digital boardroom, quiet rooms, games room and a wellness room. We are also launching a digital innovation hub – a design space to ideate and co-innovate with our customers around digital innovations that can totally transform the way they run their business.”
