RSA, the security division of EMC is helping financial services firms balance risk, cost and customer convenience with a two-factor authentication card.
The RSA SecurID 1100 Display Card is an event-based, one-time password (OTP) authenticator in a flexible card form-factor that customers can carry in their wallet or purse.
The Display Card forms part of the company’s identity assurance portfolio.
“The card-shaped form factor of the OTP can improve security and usability for consumers,” noted Mark Diodati, identity and privacy analyst with Burton Group. “The form factor is harmonized with the way that consumers interact with financial institution Web sites.
The Display Card is powered by RSA Authentication Manager 7.1 software and SecurID Authentication Engine. In addition, when the Display Card is used in tandem with RSA Transaction Monitoring, customers get an added layer of online fraud detection and management tool.
The technology gives financial institutions a competitive market advantage, thereby increasing customer loyalty and online account usage while providing an appealing security feature to attract new customers, the company said.
