Rogers Communications has opened a new data centre just outside Calgary, its second Uptime Instititue Tier III facility and the first of that type in the province.
“We understand the pressures that organizations face when dealing with the management of corporate data and we are proud to be offering a world class data centre here in Canada,” AJ Byers, president, Rogers Data Centres, said in a statement. “Regardless of the size or type of business they operate, companies will have access to unmatched offerings and expertise with the assurance that their information is located securely in an outstanding facility.”
The 85,000 sq. ft. facility is close enough to Calgary’s city limits to be used as a primary corporate data centre for organizations there and far enough out to be used as a disaster recovery site, said Rogers.
The building provides access to both raised floor and business resumption space, with capacity for over 900 cabinets, state-of-the-art and highly efficient cooling systems, security measures and 24/7 customer support. It also gives customers the ability to implement a fully redundant in-province technology hosting solution to be used in tandem with Rogers’ Edmonton data centre.
Rogers [TSX: RCI.B] now operates data centres in 15 locations. The new Calgary centre will drive business growth across major sectors including energy by delivering expanded data capacity, managed data and cloud services, Rogers said..
