Adding to a growing list of managed security services companies it has acquired in the last 18 months, RedSiren Technologies Inc. Wednesday announced the purchase of Veritect Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
The deal will bring the two companies together to make RedSiren “the world’s largest privately-held managed security services firm,” said Al Leary, senior vice president of sales and marketing at RedSiren, based in Pittsburgh. The combined company will have about 125 employees, 47 coming over from Veritect, which is based in Reston, Virginia, Leary said. Sixteen Veritect employees were laid off from positions made redundant as a result of the deal, which closed on June 18, he said.
The acquisition of Veritect enhances the geographical coverage of RedSiren’s services, improves its client base, enhances the company’s skill set and adds to its intellectual property, Leary said. The combined company now has 800 customers in North America, Europe and Asia, he added.
RedSiren offers a suite of managed security services, including professional services, customer training, device management and monitoring, Leary said. The addition of Veritect will expand the range of devices RedSiren is able to manage, he said.
The integration of the two companies is already underway and should not affect Veritect customers’ service, Leary said.
Since October 2001, RedSiren has purchased a number of managed security services companies, including AtomicTangerine and Secure Network Group Inc.
