OpenStack needs to hustle: Forrester

The same week that the OpenStack movement is holding a conference and Cisco Systems Inc. shows increasing support comes a report from Forrester Research that the open source cloud management platform should get moving.
 
As this story from Network World U.S. outlines, analyst James Staten says competitors like CloudSource and Eucalyptus have more enterprise customers to show for their efforts that OpenStack. He’s the second analyst to voice similar statements.

NetworkWorld quotes an OpenStack supporter and general manager of service provider Rackspace as saying its still early days. On the other hand, the OpenStack Foundation has only been squared away for a month. Its advantage may be in the number of big vendors behind it. CloudStack — which has a collaboration conference in Las Vegas scheduled for the end of November — has Citrix Systems behind it.
