Canadian cloud and managed services provider OnX Enterprise Solutions has promoted a recent hire as its new president.
Joining the OnX only last summer as executive vice-president of the firm, Paul Khawaja, was promoted yesterday to the post of president. Khawaja has more than 20 years of executive experience in global information and communications technology and was senior vice-president of services of Toronto-based software and services firm Softchoice Corp. before he joined OnX.
“In just a short time with OnX, Paul has proven his ability to grow the Canadian business and improve earnings particularly through our converged infrastructure solutions and managed services offerings that have had a major impact on bringing value to clients,” said Mike Cox, CEO of OnX. “He was instrumental in helping us evolve our cloud and managed services strategy and in executing our federated cloud vision.”
Khawaja will be reporting directly to Cox in his new position.
Cox himself was named CEO of the company just in August this year. He replaced Canadian IT channel veteran Ed Vos. Cox joined OnX in 2012 to run the company’s U.S. business.
Khawaya was responsible for the North American services strategy, development and operations at Softchoice. He was also vice-president at Bell Canada and president of IT solutions firm Xwave.
Khawaja takes his new position at a time when OnX is growing substantially. The company’s revenues for the first quarter of its 2014 fiscal year is up 64 per cent compared to the previous quarter and up 24 per cent compared to the same period last year. Gross profits increased 66 per cent during the first quarter of 2013, according to the company. OnX has three data centres in North America and leases space in four others.
In June this year, OnX expanded in United States operations by purchasing Chicago-based managed service provider Worknet Inc. WorkNet adds another 100 customers to OnX’s existing 200.
