ObjectWeb Consortium has signed an agreement with a Chinese software group, Orientware, to build a common open-source middleware platform.
According to the terms of a memorandum of understanding announced Friday, Orientware will also release several of its middleware components as open-source code.
The agreement was signed in Shanghai by France’s National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA), an ObjectWeb cofounder that represented the group’s legal interests, and officials from China’s High-Tech Research and Development Program (HTRDP), a government-led technology development program supervised by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
