The province of Nova Scotia made its case for enabling modern servicedelivery on day two of the annual Lac Carling conference putting the focus onpackaging up “life event” services.
In addition to expanding its bundle of “birth services,” includingallowing the ability for citizens to electronically submit birth certificatesand information, the province is also developing a new “bereavement bundle.”The services aim to improve the administrative experience for citizens afterthe death of a loved one.
Vanessa Chouinard, manager of citizen service integration at Service NovaScotia, said the benefits of this project include improved service, increaseautomation of online services, and reduced delivery costs.
Chouinard spoke with IT World Canada at the event to discuss the project andsome of the challenges the province has worked through getting corporate buy-inand overcoming governance barriers.
