Toronto – The CIO community just got tighter with the launch of the CIO Exchange, an organization that provides a wide variety of opportunities for senior IT executives to build peer relationships, tap each other for information, share best practices and lessons learned, and attend social events, such as an annual golf tournament, all in a facilitated, vendor-free environment.
Nearly 50 prospective members came out to kick the tires at the initial face-to-face meeting, held at the Westin Harbour Castle in June. In addition to finding out more about the CIO Exchange, attendees had the opportunity to hear some no-holds-barred tales from the trenches from Rogers’ Chief Information Architect, Bob Terdeman, whose cutting-edge Business Intelligence implementation was the subject of CIO Canada’s May cover story.
Following the launch, the community held the first installment of its extensive conference-call program. Helen Polatajko, CIO of CIBC Mellon, led a lively and informative discussion on the topic of “Marketing IT Value to the Business“. Upcoming conference calls include “Dealing with Vendors“, July 6, “Implementing LINUX“, July 21, and “Tackling Wireless Issues“, August 31. Also on tap is a July 15 breakfast seminar on the theme of “Delivering and measuring IT’s value to the business“.
Members also have access to a password-protected online community that includes various online dialogues, member surveys, executive summaries of CIO Exchange activities, and access to numerous reports and articles.
The CIO Exchange was conceived and organized by CIO Canada and IT World Canada as a means of providing readers added value. The initiative is being undertaken in partnership with Shared Insights, a company that has pioneered similar communities in other types of businesses.
