Network Appliance Inc., a vendor of network storage products, is increasing its software development and support centre staff in Bangalore from 65 employees to 300 by the end of next year, the company said recently. The additional staff will shore up the centre’s software development and global support operations.
Of the new employees, 200 will be in engineering and 100 will be in the global support centre, said Dan Warmenhoven, chief executive officer of Network Appliance, which is based in Sunnyvale, Calif., during a three-day visit to India.
“The Indian economy is on the upswing and we see immense opportunity for NetApp in India,” he said. “Our ability to attract and retain great people is a key to our success. The highly talented and technically savvy workforce in India will accelerate the development of NetApp’s innovative and technologically advanced products.”
Network Appliance set up its centre in Bangalore last year. After the staff increase is complete, employees in India will account for 10 per cent of Network Appliance’s global head count. Network Appliance’s centre in Bangalore is currently working on the development of its NetCache caching product line.
