NetApp Inc. has launched a new version of its storage management system SANscreen, integrating it with the BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database to offer combined IT service and storage management.
According to NetApp, SANscreen 6.0 will help customers analyse the effect of storage efficiency technologies such as thin provisioning and deduplication within virtualised environments. The product works by helping users identify efficiency metrics critical to application availability and assisting in working out the best ways to apply those storage efficiencies, said NetApp.

In addition, SANscreen offers a range of other features including end-to-end infrastructure discovery, service-level monitoring, analytics, change management, and impact analysis for virtual infrastructures affecting storage efficiency and optimisation, claimed NetApp.
“By integrating SANscreen into BMC Atrium CMDB, customers are now able to get a holistic view of all of the different components of their IT environment,” said John Peters, general manager of the Atrium product line at BMC. “This enables service providers and enterprises to more effectively and efficiently manage their cloud environments, resulting in improved service quality.”
