Heat is the data centre’s mortal enemy. However, despite increasingly energy-efficient servers usually it costs a significant amount of money to fight back through air conditioning.
NEC Corp. thinks it has found a better solution: Using convection to manipulate air flow between the inside of the data centre and outside.
It will test the concept in a portable facility in Japan, known for its hot and humid climate.
