Fibre network operator Metromedia Fiber Network Inc. (MFN) has agreed to sell its operations in France and the Netherlands as the bankrupt company moves to consolidate its European business.
Under the deal, the company’s European holding, MFN BV, will hand over the group’s network operations in France and the Netherlands, including data centres and collocation facilities, to management buyout teams, and its metropolitan fibre network in four Dutch cities to Global Voice Network Ltd., MFN said Thursday in a statement.
The company provided no financial details.
The new owners will continue to run the data centres and metropolitan area networks (MANs) without any interruption to customers, MFN of White Plains, New York, said. Its customers include carriers and large corporations requiring high-speed fibre optic connectivity to run their businesses.
MFN Inc. and MFN BV, in Schiphol-Rijk, the Netherlands, will continue to own the group’s global Internet Protocol (IP) network and provide IP services to the management buy-out teams for resale to their customers and the group’s global customers located in France and the Netherlands, MFN said.
Despite its retreat from France and the Netherlands, MFN will continue to operate its data centres in London, Frankfurt and Vienna, as well as its MANs in London and Germany, the company said.
