has launched a four-radio wireless access point that provides 1.2 Gbps capacity. The AP440’s four802.11n radios each support 300 Mbps access, and work in concert to provide redundancy, load-balancing and security, the company said, and users can reduce the nimber of access points needed to provide enterprise coverage. In addition to supporting the not-yet-ratified 802.11n standard, the access points are backward-compatible with existing 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g standards. Each radio can be dedictaed to a specific frequency band. Meru has also added a 4Gbps acceleration module to allow its MC5000 controller chassis to achieve throughput of 20 Gbps when loaded with five of the modules.
