A vice president of security software company McAfee Inc. who holds three patents related to information security, will head the cyber security office of the United States Department of Homeland Security.
Amid a wave of constant cyberattacks on the the U.S. the agency today announced that Phyllis Schneck, who was vice-president and chief technology officer for the global public sector at McAfee, will take the position of Deputy Under Secretary for Cyber security for the National Protection and Programs Directorate of the DHS.

The directorate has four divisions that oversee physical and cyber security for U.S. Infrastructure.
Schneck, who holds a doctorate’s degree in computer science from Georgia Tech has also written six research publications related to real-time systems, telecommunications and software engineering.
