The challenges of IT management have led the Chief Information Office Branch at Treasury Board Secretariat of the federal government to extensive research into managing large public sector IT projects and programs. The CIOB’s findings and experiences are available http://www.cio-dpi.gc.ca/emf/, which has collected a rich set of models and practices under its Enhanced Management Framework. Among those tools are a management model, a sophisticated project manager’s handbook and an e-government capacity check, developed with KPMG and meant to provide step by step project management for e-government projects. The Enhanced Management Framework was developed byJulia Ginley, Director of Planning and Analysis, in the Organizational Readiness Office, who spoke with David Newman of Lac Carling Governments’ Review about it last month.
