Ottawa’s Jetnet Internetworking Services Inc. on Tuesday launched an enhanced authentication protocol for remote users.
Designed for remote users such as regional offices or off-site employees, the Managed RADIUS Authentication offering combines a RADIUS authentication server and a Jetnet VPN and is monitored from the company’s Internetworking Operations Centre. Jetnet also says Managed RADIUS is scalable and requires no up-front capital expenditure.
Other features of the service include integrated Web-based user management, password strength checking, password expiry, brute force attack prevention with password lockouts, Web-based user activation and password modification tools, and historical reports.
Jetnet Vice-President of development David Perkay said Managed RADIUS is a fully integrated, fully supported authentication service that enables a business to protect the privacy of its customers and the integrity of their networks.
In a recent interview with ITWorldCanada.com, Bob Hafner, Toronto-based vice-president with analyst firm Gartner Inc., said that despite the number of players entering the fray, the market for all manners of service packages is steadily growing.
“More and more enterprises [utilizing managed services] have determined that they are a bank or an insurance company – not a network service provider – and they want to give greater responsibility to their service providers to do these kinds of things,” Hafner said.
