ITIL provider Axelos to launch cyber security, Agile skills program

Global best practices training and certification provider Axelos will be rolling out a new cyber security and Agile project management skills program to its portfolio by the second half of this year.

The United Kingdom-based organization which provides professional qualifications including the IT service management best practices ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), said it launch a new cyber resilience certificate and publish best practice guidance on how to combine Agile methods such as Scrum with good governance and project methodology PRINCE2 (Projects In Controlled Environments 2).

While ITIL focuses on IT service management and PRINCE2 is geared towards project management, Axelos is updating is training programs and expanding into other areas, said Peter Hepworth, CEO of Axelos.

Axelos is also working on continuing professional development (CPD) which is meant to keep IT professionals’ skills up-to-date. The CPD program will also launch in the second half of the year.

“Ongoing professional development is in demand,” he said. “Good project management is not enough, you need to add good governance as well. We want to explore applying Agile to areas beyond IT.”

With rising incidence of cyber-attacks across industries, a good foundation in security is more important than ever for any organization, according to Hepworth.

“Security threats are becoming more complex and sophisticated. They will always be present,” he said. “That is why organizations need to develop resilience.”

Apart from protecting their assets, organizations also need to focus on being to continue key operations and services and bounce back from an attack.

The cyber resilience program is expected to be launched by June this year.
