Intel, Bell Microproducts agree to distribution deal

A North American distribution deal signed Tuesday between semiconductor and storage supplier Bell Microproducts Inc. and chipmaker Intel Corp. is a “natural fit” according to the two San Jose-based companies.

Through this agreement, Bell Microproducts will distribute select Intel products in the United States and Canada. Bell Microproducts will be franchised to carry the Intel Server Board family of single, dual and quad motherboards, including the chassis, Xeon, Itanium and Pentium 4 server microprocessors that support them.

Bell Microproducts, with offices in Toronto and Vancouver, provides services through its four solution centres including asset tagging, bar-coding, bracketing, custom labelling, destroking, device testing firmware download, mode page changes, operation system load and software duplication.

Bell Microproducts serves a large customer base of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), system integrators, value-added resellers (VAR) and resellers and also provides a host of supply chain and financial services for OEMs, the companies said.

Bell Microproducts is franchised for Intel connectivity products, including the complete line of Intel Pro 1000 and 100 adapters for Ethernet, iSCSi and RAID. This agreement also includes the full line of Intel’s Compact-PCI family, the companies said.

With this announcement, Bell Microproducts joins the Intel Technology Provider Program which allows small service providers and enterprise customers to resource Intel’s products and support services, Intel said.
