Information Builders combines GIS with BI solution

New York-based Information Builders Inc. (IBI) reported Tuesday it has teamed up with geographic information system (GIS) software provider ESRI to integrate intelligent mapping functionality into its IBI WebFocus application.

IBI, a business intelligence (BI) and real-time Web reporting provider, said the announcement builds on and enhances a previously established alliance with ESRI and will integrate WebFocus 5 with the Redlands, Calif.-headquartered company’s ArcIMS Internet mapping software solution for distributing GIS data and applications on the Internet.

Available now, WebFocus 5 is a real-time information platform with features for reporting, end-user query and analysis, information delivery and management, portal integration, and extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) capabilities. [Please see Information Builders aims with WebFocus 5.]

The combined “intelligent mapping” solution would allow an insurer, for example, to better provide risk analysis on insured households in the path of a hurricane by visually outlining the storm’s path and analyzing the data for possible insurance claims, the companies said.

IBI is online at www.informationbuilders.com.
