Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories Inc. is increasing its presence in Canada to take advantage of Canadian companies’ appetite for customer service technology.
The Alcatel-Lucent subsidiary will open a new building in Saint John, N.B., to serve as the company’s support hub for all Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers in North America, according to a company statement.
The building will feature a full laboratory, testing facilities and quality assurance operations when it opens later this year.
Peer 1 offers backup, data recovery for managed hosting customers
Peer 1 Network Enterprises Inc. has announced the availability of image backup and data recovery capabilities for its managed hosting customers.
The Vancouver-based Web hosting firm will offer the image backup and bare metal recovery (BMR) offering in partnership with U.K.-based Cristie Software Ltd. Peer 1 said the service will replace slow data protection techniques such as backup or replication to tape or disk.
“Through this service, clients can back up operating systems and applications so they can easily bounce back from just about anything the world can throw at their infrastructure,” said Tim Varma, director of product management at Peer 1. “Our powerful software regularly backs up their network’s key systems, meaning there’s much less to reinstall, rebuild, and reconfigure if disaster should strike. Clients will be up and running again much faster, saving valuable time and money.”
The service comes with a set of server configuration files and CD containing a bootable disaster recovery image.
Emerson to ship three new PDUs
Emerson Electric Co. has announced it will ship three new rack power distribution unit (PDU) products for data centres starting in September.
The modular Liebert MPX, Liebert MPH and Knurr DI-STRIP are available for order immediately.
The MPX and MPH have integrated network cards and can be monitored and managed through Liebert Nform or SiteScan Web-based software, according to the company. Units can be monitored at the rack level and individual receptacle level.
HDS, InMage sign reseller deal
Hitachi Data Systems Corp. and InMage Systems Inc. have signed an agreement under which HDS will co-brand and resell InMage’s Appshot technology.
Appshot combines continuous data protection, remote replication and application failover in a single platform, according to the companies.
Appshot supports Microsoft Exchange, SQL and SharePoint servers, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, MySQL, Oracle and SAP applications, and Windows, Linux and Unix file systems, the company says.
